Diktator! is a local voice typing app for macOS. It is designed to help people who have limited finger mobility or find sustained keyboard typing difficult. Instead of typing a phrase using many keystrokes, users can start and stop dictation with a single, easy-to-reach key.
Diktator! uses the Right Command or Right Option key to start and stop dictation. These keys are located near the lower corners of the keyboard and can be operated with a single press.
This provides a faster and more comfortable way to enter text for people who find conventional keyboard typing difficult, particularly when writing in languages for which built-in dictation may not meet their needs.
On macOS, Diktator! uses Accessibility permission only to place the locally recognized text into the application that is currently active.
Diktator! does not use Accessibility permission to read document contents, inspect other applications' interfaces, control windows, monitor user activity, or collect information about what the user types.
Diktator! does not request or use the macOS Input Monitoring permission.
Microphone access is used only while recording speech for transcription. The user controls when recording starts and stops.
Speech recognition is performed locally on the Mac using a locally installed speech model. Audio and recognized text are not sent to a cloud transcription service.
